The Assignment
Gäddeholm, east of Västerås, is growing rapidly. As more families move into the area, the need for functional and safe school facilities is increasing. The school opened in 2019 and required a solution that could scale in line with student growth – without long on-site construction time.
The Solution
MG Link established in 2020 a modular school building across two floors in a beautiful red colour scheme that harmonises with the cultural reserve surroundings. The building includes:
- 7 classrooms
- A large production kitchen where all meals are prepared on site
- Group rooms, staff rooms, changing rooms and technical rooms
The result is modern, bright and flexible spaces that support pedagogy – from preschool class and upwards.
Educational Environment
The school area is surrounded by the shores of Lake Mälaren, forests and open landscapes. The spacious schoolyard is complemented by nearby nature – a natural outdoor environment for play, movement and thematic teaching.
Growth and Vision
The school adds new preschool classes every year with the goal of becoming a fully developed F–6 school. The facility solution is designed to expand in stages while maintaining safety, logistics and a good working environment.
Environment and Heritage
Gäddeholm has a rich cultural history, from Iron Age remains to the manor estate era. The modular school building carefully integrates into this context – a sustainable and reversible solution that respects the landscape.
