Preschool with Sedum Roof

The Assignment

Lilla Edet Municipality needed to quickly establish high-quality preschool facilities in Lödöse – carefully adapted to a scenic location with open views and designed for phased expansion.

The Solution

MG Link delivered Gossagården in two phases using reused modules:

  • Phase 1: 14 modules
  • Phase 2: 13 modules, connected to form an L-shaped layout creating a sheltered courtyard

The modules were relocated from previous sites in Stockholm and refurbished internally to meet operational needs – from floor plans to finishes and technical installations.

Function & Content

  • 5 departments (ages 1–5) with entrances, cloakrooms, play areas, dining space, rest rooms, and staff facilities
  • Kitchen and dishwashing area located in the module closest to the street
  • On-site constructed storage building and canopy for strollers
  • Creative outdoor environment encouraging play, interaction, and engagement between children, educators, and guardians

Accessibility / Technology / Comfort / Energy

  • Multiple wheelchair ramps and accessible circulation routes
  • Foundations adapted to former farmland: extensive excavation, drainage, and load-bearing gravel; the building rests on Dejegrund foundation elements with precise leveling
  • Reused and refurbished modules for reduced carbon footprint and durable operation

Result

  • Site-adapted preschool maximizing views and creating a safe inner courtyard
  • Scalable solution delivered in phases with short implementation time
  • Sustainable approach through reuse and locally adapted groundworks
